Bishop James C. Bell, Sr. is the Senior Pastor and Founder of Unity of Love
Praise Temple Church in Washington, DC Bishop Bell was licensed to preach
the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1972, under the leadership of Bishop Raymond
Jones.  In May 1977, Bishop was called to Pastor.  He organized and opened
the doors to Capitol Evangelistic Center in the District of Columbia. In April of
1980, the ministry was reorganized and moved to Valley Elementary School in
Oxon Hill, Maryland under its new name, Unity of Love Baptist Church.

In September 1980, Pastor Bell and Miriam Hatcher exchanged wedding vows
and Miriam became co-pastor. The two continued in the vision of teaching,
training and preparing young ministers, evangelist and disciples. Through the
years, Unity has become well known for their ability to enter into God's
presence through dynamic, spirit lifting praise and worship. This gift became so
evident early on in the ministry that shortly after, Unity's establishment, God
spoke to Pastor Miriam and told her that the church would no longer be called
Unity of Love Baptist Church, but instead "Unity of Love Praise Temple". On
May 18, 2001, Pastor Miriam Bell went home to be with the Lord.

In 1984, seeing and recognizing the need for a permanent place of worship, the Lord enabled Bishop to move
the congregation into their present location of 3703 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue S.E. Washington, D.C.

Bishop Bell's ministry extends beyond the walls of Unity. He is a member of the Board of Directors for "In Jesus'
Name Gospel & Food Distribution Program" (which is now an international ministry to India, Africa, Jamaica,
Trinidad Tobago and Haiti); the Larry Jones' "Feed the Children Ministry" and "Christian relief Services";
Washington Area Minister Alliance; and the Operation Feed and Read Program. He has received numerous
awards for his outstanding community service, including the Theodore R. Hagans, Jr. Public Service Award.  He
also serves on the Board of Directors for Kids Konnection (a children’s outreach ministry), which provides
education through use of hand puppets, stories and songs.

On June 26, 2002 Pastor Bell was consecrated to the position of Bishop and inducted into the College of
Bishops by the Faith Fellowship of Churches International under the leadership of Bishop Frank Davis.  Bishop
Bell's heart's desire of going to foreign mission fields to preach the Gospel was fulfilled in 2002. He visited India
in January and Africa in November. During those trips many souls were delivered from bondage, saved and
healed to the glory of God! As a result of him being inducted in the college, many ministers whom Bishop Bell
met in Africa and India, received their licenses, and now are able to move freely throughout the countryside
preaching God's Word.

He received is theological training at the Washington Bible College, Faithful Bible School, Jericho Christian
College and Campbell's University. Bishop Bell also, received an Honorable Certificate of Biblical Studies in
2007 at the Word of Faith Christian College.

Bishop Bell has established the World Outreach Mission International.  Through Jesus Christ he demonstrates
integrity and commitment in every aspect of life.  He has been and continues to be a positive role model.

On December 16, 2006, the Lord answered Bishop’s prayer and he was united in marriage to Lady Edna. The
two continued in the vision of teaching, training and preparing young ministers, evangelist and disciples to do
the work of the Lord.
